Pastor Bob Grenier

bobI was born in Winnipeg Canada. That is a city in the province of Manitoba, which is directly above our state of North Dakota. Our family moved to Florida when I was in the 4th grade. We continued to live in Florida all the way through High School. The Lord saved me on Feb 6th, 1973, and I entered full time ministry on Feb 12th, 1973, becoming part of the "Shiloh Ministry", which had grown out of Calvary Chapel in Southern California.

Gayle and I moved here to Visalia in the summer of 1978, and the Lord established Calvary Chapel Visalia. We are both deeply committed to "finishing our course well" See Acts 20, and are blessed beyond words to be serving Jesus Christ in this body of believers. My personal vision for ministry is found in the book of Ephesians, chapter 4:11-16. Another way of looking at the heartbeat of my heart is the saying which I've adopted from my Pastor Chuck Smith, and that is, "we simply teach the Bible simply”. With that in mind, let me explain my personal calling as a pastor is to teach through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, in a verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book method. And, when we get to Revelation, we go back to Genesis and start going through the whole Bible again. What a joy and blessing it is to have God's life changing Word to take in and learn how to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Also, and I'm not sure where I first heard this, but it's also a heartbeat issue for me, in fact, it's the primary one..."The main thing in Christianity is to keep the main thing, the main thing" And of course Jesus Christ is the main thing.  "And, finally, I thank God for the Holy Spirit and His ministry in our lives and ministry. I'm constantly reminded of what God said in Zec 4:6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.

My prayer is that all of us would live in a loving and complete dependence upon God's grace, power and love"

Calvary Chapel Story

In the late 1970's, the Lord led Pastor Bob Grenier, (at that time, Pastoring a Calvary Chapel Church in Eugene Oregon ) to move to California's heartland and plant a new work. Started in 1978 with two home fellowships, and a Sunday Afternoon service at a local community room, the fellowship began to grow, and soon, moved into the larger facilities of the Visalia YMCA building. While at the YMCA, the church continued to flourish as a result of the Lord's blessings. Around the late 80's the Lord provided us with 12.7 acres, on which we built our church offices.

In 1994 we were able to move from the YMCA, as we completed the first building project, which included a sanctuary and children's classrooms, and nursery. Throughout the 1990's, the fellowship continued to grow as more individuals and families came to the Lord and began attending the church. To accommodate this continuing growth, Calvary Chapel Visalia, recently expanded the original sanctuary, more then doubling it's capacity, and added a number of new classrooms for the children's ministry. We also expanded and remodeled our Nursery, added a Nursing Mother's Room. Additionally, we expanded our Bookstore, and Cafe. We have expanded our parking lots three different times, added a Youth Chapel, and a beautiful Outdoor Pavilion that seats up to 125. Our vision for ministry, is to Exalt the Lord, Equip the Saints, and Evangelize the lost. On a practical level, we like to say, that we "Simply teach the Word Simply" We enjoy the systematic verse by verse expository method of teaching God's Word. We are indebted to the Lord, who through Pastor Chuck Smith from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa has provided us such a great model and example of God's love and ministry.
